1.Taxation Information about foreigners
Before you made the following actions you should consult an accountant in order to avoid future problems in your tax return. According to Greek taxation legislation you are obliged to fill in a tax return. The tax return is submitted every March and concerns the previous year.
When you transfer money in Greece.
The money must be transferred via bank. In this case you must ask from the bank the ?pink slips? or a bank certification on which will be written the amount of money that you have transferred, the country and the name of the beneficiary (it is issued from the band in Greece. In case that you transfer the money by yourself you must declare the money in the port or airport custom and they will give you a certification. The original of these documents must be delivered to the accountant to use them to fill tax return.
When you buy or sell a land, a building plot or a home.
Before you buy a land, a building plot or home you have to transfer as money as is the value of the land or the home plus the buying expenses. You must deliver a copy or the notary contract, and the original pink slips to the accountant.
When you buy of sell a car, a boat, an airplane, a helicopter, a motorcycle or movable goods at a cost 5.000,00 Euro
You must deliver to the accountant a copy of the receipt and the original pink slips.
When you have income from the rent of your property
(i.e. you rent for some months). Before you rent your house you must sign a contract and submit it to the tax office. It is forbidden to rent your home to the tourists without to obtain a special license from Hellenic Tourism Organization (E.O.T.)
When you receive loans, donate money (more than 300 Euro)
You must deliver to the accountant the bank contract and a certification with the amounts that you paid or received the previous year.
When the land that you bought has trees or you plant trees (olives trees etc.)
When you build a home or a swimming pool.
You must deliver to the accountant a copy of the building permit (from the civil engineer), a copy of the table of the minimum construction cost (from the civil engineer), and the original pink slips.
* In case that you are permanent resident in Greece the tax rate is 0%
